Why four figures matters on a profile

There is a small but real shift when a count moves from three digits to four. Up to 999, Instagram shows the exact number; from 1,000 it reads as “1K” on many screens, and visitors scan it as an account that has got going. That is the whole reason 1,000 is the size people ask about most often in searches, and why it is the default tile on our order card.

It is also a size that makes sense for a wide range of accounts. A profile on 400 becomes 1,400. A profile on 2,000 becomes 3,000. Neither looks like it has been inflated overnight, especially with the delivery spread over a day.

Does a thousand suit your profile?

It fits best if your account has somewhere between about 200 and 5,000 followers already. Below 100, a thousand is a tenfold jump that the rest of the profile will not match; try 250 first. Above 10,000, a thousand is only a few per cent, and likes on recent posts might show more.

A thousand bought followers are not a thousand people who know your name. They will not reliably like, comment or buy, and we do not promise any engagement from them.
